Ingredients

  • Macaroni : 350 grams
  • Unsalted butter : 40 grams
  • Flour : 40 grams
  • Milk : 750 milliliters
  • Sharp cheddar (Shredded) : 200 grams
  • Mozzarella Cheese (Shredded) : 100 grams
  • Dijon Mustard : 1 teaspoon
  • Nutmeg : 1 pinch
  • Salt : 1 pinch
  • Pepper : 1 pinch
  • Breadcrumbs : 50 grams
  • Unsalted butter (Melted) : 20 grams

Preparation steps

  • Cook the macaroni in a large pot of salted boiling water until al dente.
    Drain and set aside.

    In a large saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.
    Add the flour and whisk for 1 minute to form a roux.

  • Gradually whisk in the milk until the sauce is smooth and thick.

  • Off the heat, stir in the cheddar and mozzarella.

  • Then add the mustard and nutmeg.
    Season with salt and pepper, and mix until everything is melted and smooth.

  • Add the cooked pasta to the sauce and toss to coat well.

  • Transfer to a lightly buttered baking dish.
    Combine the breadcrumbs with the melted butter. Sprinkle over the top of the macaroni.
    Bake at 200°C (400°F) for 20 to 25 minutes, until the top is golden and crisp.
