Ingredients
For the Cake
- Flour : 250 grams
- Baking powder : 2 teaspoons
- Salt : 1 pinch
- Unsalted butter : 120 grams
- Caster sugar : 150 grams
- Egg : 1
- Milk : 180 milliliters
For the Maple Syrup Sauce
- Maple syrup : 250 milliliters
- Hot Water : 250 milliliters
- Brown sugar : 100 grams
- Unsalted butter : 50 grams
Preparation steps
Prepare the Maple Syrup Sauce
-
In a saucepan, bring the maple syrup, hot water, brown sugar, and butter to a boil.
Let simmer over low heat for 2 to 3 minutes, then remove from heat.
Prepare the Cake Batter
-
Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F) and butter a baking dish (approximately 20 cm x 20 cm).
In a bowl, mix the flour, baking powder, and salt.
In another bowl, beat the butter and sugar until creamy. Add the egg and mix well. -
Gradually incorporate the flour mixture and the milk, alternating between the two, starting and ending with the flour.
Mix until the batter is smooth.
Assembling and Baking
-
Pour the batter into the buttered baking dish.
-
Carefully pour the hot syrup mixture over the batter without stirring (the cake will absorb the sauce as it bakes).
Bake for 35 minutes, until golden brown and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. - Temperature: 180°C
- Heat: rotary
- Baking time: 35 min
